THE LOCATION: Floating in a sea of men donning tuxedos and women with the look of nostalgia on their faces, I arrived at the Kennedy Center for the much anticipated Cinderella, the opera. The Kennedy Center is always a stunning experience and I thought there would be no better occasion than this to do a shoot to share with you. With the stormy skies as the backdrop, the accents on my peplum dress stood out like the twinkle of Cinderella when she stares into the eyes of her prince.
THE LOOK: The Kennedy Center Opera House is quickly becoming a time capsule for fashions found while traveling north and south of the border. During my last outing to the Kennedy Center, at a Pink Martini and the Von Trapps concert, I wore a jeweled hair beret I found in Hopkins, Belize and wrote about it here – Belizean Beauty. This time, I am wearing a dress found in Montreal, Canada from a trip taken to witness the gorgeous fall foliage of the Adirondacks. This stunning dress, even with its dangling jewels and silver brocading, can still carry accessories expertly. The red satin clutch was just enough to store a red lipstick. The classic black pumps were the perfect opera-rain gear. The mother of pearl and marcasite earrings brought a chameleon-like charm against the dress. And lastly, the rabbit shawl wrap, brought from Montreal with the dress, was the most necessary of all, to keep me warm through the last act. I let my outfit, and not my humidity-riddled curls, do the talking for this post.
