THE LOCATION: Following a semester of full-time classes at Georgetown University while also working full-time, I decided a vacation was all but necessary. So I booked a seven day trip to Jamaica, finished my last final exam, and printed my boarding pass. Then came the ever important question of what to wear in Jamaica. For a location mixed with days of relaxing by the ocean and afternoons of excursions, I knew I had to pack style for every type of activity. I made sure to take:
- My Best Colors: white, turquoise and poppy red
- Netted and sheer, breezy tops and bikinis
- Standout statement jewelry
- Signature tropical accents
THE LOOK: This blouse is a lot like the lining of Carrie Bradshaw’s Dior clutch: beautiful, vintage, and kind of falling apart. I found this blouse at a vintage store in Ridgewood, Queens about a million years ago. It is the only yellow thing in my entire closet that is not mustard yellow. To me, yellow is too obvious. Like the smiley face sticker you are given for behaving well in the first grade, it screams “happy.” To me, happy isn’t a shade but more so a volume, like the fierce loudness of a studded Valentino pump. Still, this top was created for the sunny, happy shores of Jamaica. It capped off my time in the beautiful island country and left me with a smile in my heart on my last day there.
