The rise of fashion bloggers has turned everyday outfits into street style and sidewalks into rookie runways. DC street style often translates city decorum, a never ending effort to be politically correct and color inside finely defined lines. Success, whether in style or profession, means an approach distinct from the rest. In a city known for classic black and navy ensembles, my DC street style is pronounced by custom and timeless touches on everyday style.
To me, style is a personal expression akin to the vision you have when you wake up everyday. This custom YSL (Yves San Laurent) blouse is one of the most chic pieces in my closet. It pairs perfectly with summer whites but will live on well past Labor Day Weekend, I am sure. Being that it is a passed down item, it also carries a little history in the wear.
Since receiving a beautiful pearl set as a college graduation gift from my mother, pearls have become an almost daily part of my wardrobe. These bold mutli-strand pearl bracelet and layered pearl earrings are youthful power-pieces that go effortlessly from the office to formal affairs.
Finally, I love the combination of a chic floral white skirt with a boxy heeled loafer. As a woman in government communications, the balance of masculine and feminine elements of style are a capture of my everyday life in DC.
