#FashionRule: #OfficeWear should have just 3 to 4 colors
DC blurs all sorts of lines. Your obsession becomes your career (politics, PR, fashion etc.) Your career becomes your social life. And your private and public image become interchangeable. That’s why you must always dress to impress. In this town, going from day-to-night means, means seeing the sunset with your work phone in tow.
Going to Kennedy Center Millennium Stage events after the office is one of my favorite things to do (wonderful free shows every single evening!) The perfect pair of power heels help me switch gears seamlessly from day to night.
Marrying DC style (simple and straightforward) with the New York approach (simple and daring) make it easy to dress for the end of summer. I find myself pairing bikini colors with statement hand bags and black pencil skirts. Not to mention the wearability of a Cleopatra statement necklace.
Sometimes a beach fantasy plus a DC-New York mindset is all I can think of when dressing in the morning. By the end of the day I am still myself, in my Empire State of Mind, dressed for art or for the office. How do you strike a balance between summer and fall? Between your home and your playground?
