THE LOCATION: On a rooftop under the warm skies of 14th Street NW, Washington, DC.
THE LOOK: For DC transplants, DC style often translates as an embodiment of the city life here. For many, this means a carousel of office hallway colored khaki suites or random, everyday skirt-blouse separates. Being a New Yorker in DC I am still very inclined to wear a ton of black, even in the hottest months. Still, throwing on a pop of color always does something for my state of mind. To create an effortless day-to-night look, remember my Instagram #fashionrule that “A good professional outfit consists of no more than three to four colors.”
The art deco style of these GX by Gwen Stefani sandals inspired a Miami approach for my office wear to evening wear look. This pink blazer comes out on days when my sunny disposition matches that of mother nature (or if I am attending some women’s leadership conference). The dangling pearl earrings and floral pearl bracelet evoke a balance of simplicity and flare that is often hard to find. That is why I love this combination. It sits on the edge of femininity and sophistication.
