Fall is most likely my spirit animal. And New York Fashion Week is my animal kingdom. While the “new” era streetstyle is undoubtedly blending last summer’s seersucker stripes with this falls’s wide one’s (do your research), I’m off trying to decide how to make special my first full leather getup of the season.
While New York Fashion Week and any other style season brings a new ode to adornment, I find myself returning to the usual suspects with joy and slight separation anxiety: wine colored pieces and lips, dark reptile prints, metallic accents and leather all over. My reptile print romper was the perfect piece to wear over high waisted leather pants and a fall-perfect maroon blazer from Sisley paired with a tan leather bag (both from Milan.) Accented by deep fuchsia strappy sandals, a Grecian coin necklace and a heavy vintage belt, I felt like my usual self in my most usual place. New York Fashion Week. And that was the best feeling of all. Except this year, I saw it through a veneer of traditional bridal mehndi (henna), as the season of my engagement was upon me, too. Similar and totally fierce pieces curated by me are at the end.
